FAQs

What We Do

212 nutrition provides trauma-informed nutrition counseling for high-achieving adults, busy professionals, and individuals seeking support with nutrition habits, mental well-being, performance, and long-term health.

Specialty areas include:

  • Mental health nutrition

  • Nutrition support during/after substance use recovery

  • Stress, burnout, and inconsistent eating patterns

  • Gut-brain health

  • Performance and lifestyle nutrition

  • Building sustainable habits that support energy, mood, focus, and overall wellness

Our approach focuses on practical nutrition strategies, behavior change, accountability, and individualized nutrition education. Care is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to each client's goals, lifestyle, and health history.

212 nutrition is not a weight-loss-focused practice and does not provide treatment for active eating disorders, acute psychiatric conditions, or medical conditions requiring a higher level of care.

Who are 212 nutrition clients?

The people we see:

  • Are busy, time-starved professionals who need accountability and structure to make sustainable changes

  • Regularly skip breakfast because they stay in bed until the last possible minute — and sometimes miss lunch too due to back-to-back meetings (hello coffee #4 & breakroom snacks)

  • Want to feel focused and energized throughout the day — and stop crashing at 3 PM

  • Say things like “I know what to eat — I just don’t know how”

  • Feel like they might be “addicted” to sugar or food

  • Have tried every diet under the sun and are hungry for practical strategies that actually stick (especially when life gets chaotic)

  • Enjoy working out (or used to), and want support getting back into consistent joyful movement

  • Are looking to lose fat, build muscle, and make sure they’re getting enough protein and fiber

  • Want to eat better to feel better — for their energy, mood, hormones, and long-term health

  • Often have co-occurring mental health conditions (like anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar I/II, or substance use) and want a trauma-informed approach to nutrition

  • Tend to be perfectionists, overthinkers, and/or overachievers who are ready to find their balance

Who do you work with?

We help high-achieving adults build sustainable nutrition habits that support their energy, mental well-being, and performance. We may be a good fit if you:

  • Are a busy professional, entrepreneur, athlete, or high achiever

  • Want to improve your relationship with food without dieting

  • Need support with consistency, structure, and accountability

  • Want nutrition strategies that support energy, mood, focus, performance, and long-term health

  • Are managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, substance use recovery, or other mental health concerns and are looking for nutrition support as part of your overall care team

  • Are ready for realistic, sustainable changes rather than perfection

Who do you not work with?

We may not be the best fit if you:

  • Are looking for a highly restrictive diet, detox, cleanse, or quick-fix weight loss program

  • Want a provider whose primary focus is calorie counting, macro tracking, or rapid weight loss

  • Require a higher level of care for an active eating disorder (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, ARFID, or severe binge eating disorder)

  • Are experiencing an acute mental health crisis that warrants a multidisciplinary treatment team intervention

  • Are seeking nutrition advice that is not evidence-based

  • Are looking for a meal plan to follow without ongoing behavior change, skill-building, or collaboration

Which states are you licensed in?

I currently hold registered dietitian licenses in the following states:

  • Arkansas

  • Florida

  • Georgia

  • Maryland

  • Montana

  • New York

  • Oregon

  • Texas

How do I know my session will be covered by insurance?

You may want to call your insurance customer service number (usually located on the back of your insurance card) and inquire about your coverage for Nutrition Counseling or Medical Nutrition Therapy. You will want to ask about the number of covered sessions, diagnosis-specific coverage (if applicable), and preventative care coverage. We will also verify your coverage before the initial assessment.

What insurances do you take?

We are currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna and United Healthcare. If you have an out-of-network insurance not listed here, we can provide a superbill for submission to your insurance for possible reimbursement for the provided services.

How long will we be working together?

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer (unfortunately). The number of sessions will depend on your personal goals, medical necessity, current lifestyle, social supports, as well as insurance coverage (if applicable) or current financial standing (if self-pay). Generally, we see people for a minimum of 3 months.

What’s a Dispensary page?

It’s a link to our Fullscript store where you can shop trusted supplements and beauty items (like sunscreen) at a discount. You don’t have to be a client to use it, but we highly recommend you maintain healthcare professional counsel and don’t use anything outside the directions on the product label.

I have more questions. Where can I ask them?

Feel free to submit any remaining questions via email at maria@212nutrition.com.
